"This program sounds like fun, but in my industry, sales people are expected to be very serious. Won't magic tricks hurt my image?"

I hear this question a lot. Similar concerns I've heard from sales professionals include:

  • "Good salespeople don't need tricks."
  • "Gimmicks like magic tricks are cute, but they won't help in the long run."
  • "Prospects like genuine, honest information and don't want to be tricked into a relationship."
  • "I'm worried that if I break out a magic trick, I won't be taken seriously by the the person I'm trying to meet."

These concerns are all quite valid. I'll address them one at a time:

"Good salespeople don't need tricks."

To me, this is tantamount to saying, "Good magicians don't need tricks." If you've ever participated in any sort of sales training, you've been taught sales tactics intended to help you deal with any obstacles you may face in the sales process.

They're tricks. All of them. The only difference is, sales trainers didn't call them tricks. They use words like tactic, strategy, or technique.

David Sandler, founder of the Sandler Sales Institute and author of numerous books on salesmanship, has been know to call sales "a Broadway show, put on by a psychiatrist."

Like the tactics you learn from other sales trainers, what you learn from "Sell More With Magic" will help you deal with all sorts of obstacles you may face during the sales process. They are not for everyone, and are not the answer to everything, but when appropriate, they WILL set you head and shoulders above your competition.

There are many different types of magic. Some tricks, by their nature, leave the viewer feeling tricked, conned, suckered. Appropriately, these tricks are known in the industry as "sucker tricks."

Other tricks do not have this "sucker" effect. On the contrary, they leave the viewer feeling amazed and impressed. The trick leaves them baffled, but they feel you were with them the entire time, and not conning or "tricking" them.

In sales, we avoid the use of sucker tricks, unless the trick is specifically intended to illustrate how "Our competitors will try and trick you into believing __________."

The tricks you learn in this program will NOT leave your prospect feeling like they're being tricked into a relationship.
